How To Clean & Maintain Your Silicone Toys & Teethers

Maintaining cleanliness and proper hygiene for silicone toys and teethers is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of babies. Here are some maintenance and cleaning tips specifically for silicone toys and teethers:

  1. Pre-Wash Before First Use: Before using a new silicone toy or teether, it's a good practice to pre-wash it with warm water and mild soap. This helps remove any residue or manufacturing dust.

  2. Regular Cleaning: Clean silicone toys and teethers regularly to prevent the buildup of dirt, bacteria, or saliva. You can use the following cleaning methods:
    • Hand Washing: Wash the toys with warm water and mild soap. Use a clean cloth, sponge, or soft brush to gently scrub the surface. Rinse thoroughly with clean water.
    • Dishwasher Safe: Most silicone toys and teethers are dishwasher safe. If they are, place them in the dishwasher's top rack and run a gentle cycle with a mild detergent. Avoid using harsh detergents or high-heat settings.

  3. Disinfection: Occasionally, you may want to disinfect silicone toys and teethers, especially if they have been in contact with illness-causing germs or shared among multiple children. Consider the following methods:
    • Boiling: Boiling is an effective method to disinfect silicone toys and teethers. Submerge them in boiling water for a few minutes. Ensure they are heat-resistant and won't be damaged by boiling.
    • Sterilising Solutions: Some silicone toys and teethers may be compatible with sterilising solutions, such as microwave sterilisers or chemical sterilising tablets. Follow the manufacturer's guidelines for proper usage. Please note that sterilisers MAY alter the colours of your toys and teethers.

  4. Drying: After cleaning or disinfecting, allow the toys and teethers to air dry completely. Place them in a clean, well-ventilated area or pat them dry with a clean cloth. Ensure they are completely dry before storing to prevent mould or mildew growth.

  5. Inspect Regularly: Regularly inspect silicone toys and teethers for any signs of damage, including cracks, tears, or loose parts. If you notice any damage, discontinue use and replace the item.

  6. Storage: Store silicone toys and teethers in a clean and dry environment to maintain their cleanliness. Consider using storage bags or containers specifically designed for baby toys to protect them from dust or contaminants.

SPECIFIC INSTRUCTIONS:

  • Our ring shaped teethers come with a removable wooden ring. This can easily be popped out for efficient cleaning. The wooden part can get damaged if submerged in water or steriliser fluid, so please avoid doing so.

  • Our bath toys are 'mould-free' but you do have to maintain them to ensure their quality remains the same. Please remember to take the toys apart and thoroughly air dry them after each use. If any mould does appear on your toys, they can be wiped off - the benefit of silicone!
